We’re delighted to share some exciting news. On September 22, 2025, we began a brand-new solar project to install a 103kW photovoltaic (PV) system on the roof of Mercedes-Benz of Harrogate, featuring 172 solar panels that will help power our dealership with clean, renewable energy.
These PV panels capture sunlight and turn it into electricity. Inside each panel, special cells absorb the sun’s rays, creating a flow of direct current (DC) electricity. This is then converted into alternating current (AC) electricity by an inverter, making it ready to power the dealership and charge electric vehicles.
We’ve invested £71,000 in this project, and we expect to see a return on that investment in just three years through savings on energy costs.
This 103kW solar system will reduce our carbon emissions by around 19.5 tonnes every year. Over the 25-year lifespan of the system, that adds up to nearly 488 tonnes of CO₂ saved, a huge step forward in our commitment to sustainability.
Plus, thanks to this solar power, we won’t need to upgrade our site’s electricity supply to add more electric vehicle charging points. That means we can support more EV drivers without extra cost or carbon impact, helping to accelerate the shift to cleaner vehicles.
