The distinctive Porsche design has been an automotive staple for over 50 years now, and as time has progressed the bodywork has been updated to suit the era.
Porsche’s new 718 Boxster
carries on this evolution of the Porsche design that began back in 1953, and with modern design cues, the new model certainly looks the part, helping it to be the definitive mid-engine roadster.
The clean and crisp look from the outside continues inside with the Alcantara-lined sports seats, sports steering wheel that was derived from the 918 Spyder, and 7-inch multitouch-screen Porsche Communication Management system with optional Connect or Connect Plus to keep you connected. Smartphone connectivity is also considered in the design, with the specifically fitted smartphone tray built in to improve signal and easily accessible charging options.
Performance has always been a key selling point of the Porsche range, and the 718 Boxster continues this theme with new flat-four turbocharged engines. The 4-cylinder 2.0-litre in the Boxster produces 300hp, taking the 718 up to 170mph with a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds.
The more powerful Boxster S has a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine producing 350hp and launches the S to 60 in 4.2 seconds, with a top speed of 177mph. Both can fit with a 6-speed manual and Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) 7-speed automatic gearbox.
As standard with new Porsches is the electromechanical power steering, which helps to give agile handling and a sporty driving experience, something that Porsche have become world-renowned for. Power steering Plus is an available option that helps keep the steering firm at higher speeds, with easier manoeuvrability at lower speeds.
With Park Assist, reversing camera, Lane change assist and Adaptive cruise control, the 718 Boxster comes with all the safety features you need, and with a Speed Limit indicator, you will know when it is safe to overtake and also where speed restrictions are in place.
Available to order now, the 718 Boxster is priced from £41,739, with deliveries taking place this season.
