Motor trade honours our founder and chairman Jack Tordoff

The hard work and success of Jack Tordoff, MBE, our founder and chairman was last night (8th February 2018) recognised by the motor trade when he was awarded the top honour at the industry’s prestigious AM Awards.

Jack, 82, was inducted into the AM Hall of Fame to mark the outstanding contribution he has made to the automotive industry during his career. Each year, the awards celebrate the achievements of an individual who has not only led a hugely successful business, but who has also raised professionalism in the industry and helped improve its image.

From a single dealership on Sticker Lane in Bradford, Jack built JCT600 into one of the largest privately owned businesses in the UK. With 50 dealerships, representing 18 of the world’s leading car marques, it is one of Yorkshire’s great success stories, marking a turnover of £1.222 billion in 2016. With a team 2,200 people, it has also achieved a place in the Sunday Times ‘Best 100 Companies to Work For’ list.

Jack was given a standing ovation when he received the award at a glittering awards ceremony held at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham. He said: “I don’t think there’s any great secret to success - it’s all about working hard and always putting the customer first.

“I am extremely proud of the business I’ve created, it’s the people who make it so special. I’m also very proud that both of my sons and now all five of my grandsons are involved, we remain very much a Yorkshire family business and these strong values continue to be central to everything we do.”
