Mercedes-AMG have produced a second model based on the new compact car platform, combining sportiness with a comfortable amount of space. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine with 306 hp (225kW), AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G dual-clutch transmission, AMG suspension and variable AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive hits 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds reaching a top speed of 155mph.
The entry-level model A 35 4MATIC Saloon expands the AMG range, appealing to young target groups with its high driving dynamics in the compact segment.
RACE-START function allows maximum acceleration from stationary whilst the gear ratios have been configured to provide spontaneous acceleration in all speed ranges. Combined with the twin scroll turbocharger, used for turbocharging and combining optimum responsiveness at low engine speeds with a strong power increase at higher speeds.
The torque distribution changes based on dynamic handing requirements, from front-wheel drive only to a 50:50 percent distribution between the front and rear axles. With the option of five AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programmes include “Slippery”, “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport +” and “Individual”.
The A 35 4MATIC Saloon features the distinguishing AMG design features including; a front splitter, radiator grille twin louvres, sporty short overhangs at the front and rear, silver chrome trim elements and AMG Line front apron with flics on the air intakes.
The eye-catching AMG side sill panels and 18-inch light-alloy wheels in five twin-spoke design compliment the muscular vehicle shoulder with a precise character line running below, emphasising the perfectly contoured side volume. The side mirrors sit also on beltline as on sports cars.
The rear width of the car is emphasized with a new diffuser insert and two-part tail lamps, complemented by a spoiler lip and two round tail pipe trims on the far left and right.
The interior features an MBUX multimedia system, three AMG display styles, distinct AMG centre console and the new generation of AMG steering wheels which feature electro-mechanical speed-sensitive power steering. The 944 mm rear headroom puts it at the top of its segment, increasing comfort for passengers. The 420 litre boot has an impressive 950 mm wide opening to help with loading and unloading, KEYLESS-ENTRY also allows fully automatic hands-free opening.
A Style pack and 19-inch wheels are also available.
