Audi have given a first look at S versions of their e-tron and e-tron Sportback models – the first time that the sporty nameplate has been applied to a fully electric vehicle.
With a combination of three electric motors – the first production vehicle to be powered by three motors, in fact – the new e-tron S will be able to call upon 370kW [496 bhp] and 973Nm of torque, propelling the vehicle to 60mph in just 4.5 seconds.
A new generation of quattro debuts here too, with new electric torque vectoring technology. The new system also operates as rear-wheel-drive only until Sport mode is activated, or when traction is broken, at which point the front-driving motor is engaged.
There are visual cues to the e-tron S too, with a widened body and wheel arches, as well as the trademark ‘S’ aluminium door mirror housings.
The latest digital MMI infotainment system is equipped inside, along with Audi’s cutting edge ‘virtual cockpit’ digital driver display.
The e-tron S and e-tron S Sportback will be available to order this summer, priced from £87,000 and £88,700 respectively.
