Audi has announced that its e-tron SUV will be available in a Launch Edition trim, to go on sale in early 2019.
Built to showcase the e-tron model at its best, the Launch Edition comes with exclusive design features and futuristic virtual door mirrors. The camera-based system replaces conventional wing mirrors and instead projects images onto two screens placed on the door – with drivers able to adjust the view of each camera through the central infotainment display.
The cameras also feature heating elements to prevent freezing, misting and dirt build-up – whilst also being capable of adapting to different lighting environments so the driver’s view is uninterrupted. Launch Edition models are also fitted with 21-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, the black styling pack, panoramic sunroof, brushed aluminium trim and Valcona leather upholstery.
As the top-end option at launch, it also comes with the Virtual Cockpit Plus system – which includes additional options over the standard instrument display – as well as the Audi Phonebox wireless charging setup and smartphone interface.Safety systems fitted include adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, a 360-degree camera with panoramic and bird’s eye views, and electric steering wheel adjustments. With the dual-electric motor setup, the e-tron can get from 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 124mph – whilst also being able to go 248 miles on a single charge.
Prices for the e-tron Launch Edition start from £82,240.
