The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has long been the benchmark for luxurious transportation, and the German manufacturer has just revealed a brand new version of its long-standing, long-body saloon.
Mercedes-Benz call the S-Class the “centrepiece of the brand”, and with the car’s impeccable reputation for silky smooth travel, it isn’t difficult to see why Merc would want to call-back to its high-class limo.
The car’s more intelligent than ever before, thanks to bleeding-edge safety systems like PRE-SAFE, E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL, and advanced all-round camera monitoring. There’s class-leading in-car tech too, such as the latest generation of MBUX, plus an astounding 31 speakers as part of the Burmester 4D surround sound system.
‘Hey Mercedes’ functionality is present too, so occupants can speak directly to the car to request functions like temperature changes, telephone calls, or even the answer to a general knowledge question.
Handling and driveability are further enhanced by a reduced turning circle, with rear-axle steering and a maximum steering angle of 10-degrees combining to chop 2 metres off the previous model’s turning radius.
The all-new S-Class goes on sale in September, with S 350 d, S 400 d 4MATIC and S 500 4MATIC versions available at launch.
Pricing for the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class is yet to be confirmed, but order books are open now.
