Features
  • Launched in 1977 the Porsche 928 was designed to bring sports car handling to the luxury saloon segment. It had to be comfortable for long distance driving but have the power and handling characteristics of a sports car.
  • The car was unveiled to great acclaim at the 1977 Geneva Motor Show and was voted car of the year in 1978. Emphasis was firmly placed weight saving the body featured
  • aluminium doors
  • bonnet
  • front wings. The nose and tail sections were then made of plastic that matched the body style.
  • The V8 engine was Porsches first V8 and could be mounted to a manual gearbox or an automatic transmission.
  • The 928 we have available today was first registered on 07/01/1987 and has been fully restored by our team of Classic Technicians here at Porsche Centre Leeds in association with our Porsche Approved body shop.
  • A full mechanical and cosmetic restoration has been completed on the vehicle with every detail being looked at to bring this classic example of Porsche history back to life.
  • With linen carpets and burgundy piping the interior of this 928 was somewhat to its era and the burgundy leather was very marked with small areas of damage. The piping and stitching that follows through the car was showing wear after 30 years of life on the road.
  • Removing all interior trim including dashboard/ seats carpets etc. we compartmentalised what we could restore and what we needed to replace. Every inch of the interior has been refreshed with a new lease of life preserving the classic Porsche fragrance and styling of the 80s.
  • The Wheels had seen better days; however they looked to be salvageable. The wheels were firstly shot blasted to remove all existing paint. We then Ceramic polished the rims one at a time which brought them back to a mirrored finish. The final step of the process was to have the wheels anodised. This platinum silver finish identified by the part number on the wheels which became legible after shot blasting was unique to the 928 forged wheels.
  • The engine was put through vigorous testing on arrival to determine its health after 91k miles on the road. This included compression and cylinder leakage tests. The tests as expected gave incredible readings and showed very little variance to the original Porsche specification. However due to our award winning mechanical process we decided to disassemble the full engine and set out to re build.
Additional Features
  • Each component of the engine was professionally cleaned to a practically new condition. The engine was re built and re sealed using a complete supply of Porsche parts. We inspected each component of the engine and found minimal wear which shows the outstanding original build quality.
  • The entire restoration process is supported by a large selection of photographic and video evidence. Each stage has been documented and goes to further support the high quality finished product.
  • This is a fantastic opportunity to own a fantastic 928 in a time warp condition ready to be enjoyed and with values on the rise it could prove to be a great future investment.
