The cambelt is one of the hardest working components in an engine and its wear is influenced by a number of factors including time, mileage and various sources of contamination. It’s therefore essential that it’s replaced at recommended intervals to avoid serious engine damage.
Your water pump is driven by the cambelt and provides circulation of the fluids which cool your engine. In some cases a water pump can seize, which can cause the cambelt to stop suddenly and break. For this reason, it makes sense to replace the water pump at the same time as the cambelt. This is our recommended approach.
