As the vehicle of choice for more than 35 million customers over the last 45 years, Volkswagen have revamped and refreshed the Golf for its eighth generation.
A brand new digital interior brings intuitive touch controls for many of the vehicle’s functions, and a bold exterior redesign has a resulted in a look that’s modern but still unmistakably Golf.
The new Golf – aka Golf 8 – will be available with as many as five hybrid powertrains, all using 48V technology in combination with a TSI petrol engine These versions promise impressive efficiency as well as potent performance, particularly in the case of the sporty GTE model, which will deliver 245PS to complement its racy looks.
At launch, Golf 8 will also be available with a choice of petrol and diesel engines, with the range starting with a 90PS four-cylinder petrol engine.
On the inside, the emphasis is very much on digital control, with a large digital instrument cluster and infotainment system taking centre stage on the newly-designed dash.
The new Golf will be available this December, and hotter GTI and R versions are slated for release later in 2020.
