Kia will be releasing their first all-electric crossover in the next few months, the e-Niro. Impressively it has already picked up two awards including Best Compact Electric Car and the overall Electric Car of the Year at this year’s DrivingElectric awards.
The electric motor is powered by a 64kWh lithium-ion polymer battery, boasting a driving range of 282 miles from a single charge according to the new European Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (combined cycle), which focuses on offering more exact vehicle data for individuals to compare, reflecting more typical driving conditions.
The e-Niro joins the existing plug-in Hybrid and Hybrid versions of the car, holding a unique position in the market globally as an ell-electric crossover, with the overall design of the car being very similar to the existing Niros.
Reaching 0-62 mph in 7.8 seconds, the e-Niro is described on reviews as feeling much faster, combined with the crossover body style it’s guaranteed to appeal to many target markets.
The car features 17” Alloy Wheels, 7” Supervision Cluster with TFT LCD Colour Display, 8-speaker JBL Premium Sound System, Smart Key and Button Start, Electric Parking Brake with Autohold, Lane Following Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Keeping Assist with Driver Attention Warning & High Beam Assist and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (Car/Ped/Cyc) (FCA).
Prices for the e-Niro start from £32,995 after the Plug-in Car Grant deduction of £3,500 from the original on the road price of £36,495
