Seen as one of the most comfortable and advanced vehicles currently on sale, the Mercedes S-Class has led the way in the executive saloon sector for some time.
Now, Mercedes has revealed the latest version of the S-Class and as usual Mercedes has tried to make the model as luxurious and technologically advanced as possible.
Many of the new technological features, such as active steer assist and active proximity control, are part of the ‘Intelligent Drive’ package that comes with the S-Class and they are a step towards fully autonomous driving.
Functionality is also very important in the new S-Class, with the model coming with two 12.3-inch displays – one in the instrument binnacle and one touchscreen for the infotainment system – and a touch-sensitive steering wheel to help you control the car’s features with ease.
Four engine options will be available from launch, with two six-cylinder diesels and two V8 petrol models on offer. The engine fitted to the S 400d is the most powerful diesel unit in Mercedes’ history, with the engine producing 340bhp. All models come with 4Matic all-wheel drive also.
Included in this range is the AMG S 63 4Matic+, which includes a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 that produces 612bhp and is more efficient than its predecessor thanks to cylinder deactivation and a smaller displacement, as the previous S 63 had a 5.5-litre bi-turbo V8. A V12 model, called the AMG S 65, is also being introduced and that has 630bhp at its disposal.
Mercedes also intend to introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the S-Class, which will have a 31-mile electric range.
As you would expect the inside of the S-Class is well-equipped and superbly finished and all four occupants will travel in both comfort and style.
The new S-Class will be coming to showrooms in July, for more information on the new S-Class register your interest today or contact your nearest JCT600 Mercedes-Benz dealership
