With imperious off-road ability, iconic looks, and a truly modern interior, there was really only one thing missing from the new Defender line-up – a utilitarian, commercial version for work-focussed drivers.
Reviving the Hard Top model name in the Defender line-up, Land Rover has revealed its plans to launch a practical, hard-wearing 90 and 110 model later this year.
As the most versatile and durable variant to date, the Defender Hard Top will retain the maximum 3.5-tonne towing capacity of the ‘standard’ vehicle, as well as the modern, connected interior that has been such a feature of the Defender’s recent revival.
The key identifying feature of the Hard Top variant will be its bigger and more versatile cargo space, with fewer passenger seats but instead maximum carrying capacity that will be accessed easily from the Defender’s existing swinging rear door.
Full details of the Defender 90 and 110 Hard Top will be revealed over the coming months, but Land Rover indicate that pricing will start at £35,500 [+VAT].
