Mercedes-AMG unveil GT Concept at Geneva Motor Show

At the world’s premier motor show in Geneva, Mercedes-AMG revealed its latest creation – The GT Concept.

Designed as a four-door sportback, this concept looked resplendent in metallic red and gave a sneak peek into the future of the Mercedes-AMG range.

Using the latest technology from AMG, the GT Concept includes AMG Future Performance, which uses hybrid technology – like in the Mercedes AMG Formula One car – to provide impressive and incredibly powerful performance.

Similar technology will be used in the upcoming AMG Hypercar, showing that away from the top performance models, hybrid technology will be the future of other performance models in the Mercedes-AMG range.

The unit includes a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine that will be combined with an electric motor to produce more than 800bhp and get the GT Concept from 0-60mph in under three seconds – which for a four-door coupe is mightily impressive.

Coming with 4Matic+ all-wheel drive to get the power down as smoothly as possible, the Concept also comes with torque vectoring to improve cornering and provide sports car levels of performance.

With the now familiar Panamericana grille, streamline body and imposing design ethos, the GT Concept is a stand-out model. Detailing such as the nano active fibre technology for the daytime running lights and the scalable performance battery, which is more lightweight than previous battery systems, add to its unique look and performance.

The GT Concept is an example of what is possible, and with the continually improving technology in the hybrid sector, this ludicrously impressive model has the potential to be a world-beater.
