Kia has unveiled a new shooting brake model that aims to combine sporty styling with a spacious interior.
Called the ProCeed, it was inspired by the ProCeed concept model that was revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year and the production model will make its public debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show next month.
Mixing coupe styling with estate practicality, the ProCeed is a five-door model that is sleek on the outside and capacious on the inside – with 594 litres of boot space as well as lots of room for the occupants.
Emilio Herrera, Kia Motors Europe chief operating officer, said: “The ProCeed takes the Ceed model family in a bold new direction. Where the Ceed Sportswagon majors on practicality, the ProCeed provides couples or young families with the space and versatility of a wagon, combined with an emotive, swept-back design.
“Where focusing on one of these normally compromises the other, the ProCeed is the first car in the mainstream segment to combine both.”
The ProCeed will come in GT Line trim or as the dynamic ProCeed GT, and the shooting brake comes with either a seven- or eight-inch ‘floating’ touchscreen infotainment system above all the climate control dials, with the materials used soft to the touch for a more premium feel.
A sports steering wheel, large alloy wheels and sport seats finish the look, with leather and cloth upholstery options available to choose from.
Under the bonnet of the standard ProCeed is one of three engines – two petrol units and one diesel – while the ProCeed GT comes with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 201bhp and 265Nm of torque and is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Performance figures are yet to be confirmed.
Full UK specifications and prices are yet to be released, but expect them to be confirmed closer to the model’s arrival in 2019.
