Hot on the heels of the ID.3, Volkswagen have launched its take on the all-electric SUV.
Handily named the ID.4, this latest model from Wolfsburg promises to be a compelling all-rounder, with more space for passengers and more space for luggage.
It uses the same exterior design language as the smaller ID.3, with LED headlights in a smoothed front end, along with an aerodynamic side-on profile that should enhance single-charge range.
VW promises a sporty drive from the ID.4 too, with a max battery size of 77kWh to deliver a range of up to 520km [323 miles], according to the latest WLTP tests.
It’s rear wheel drive-only, but Volkswagen claim that the strong grip and driver assistance systems make the ID.4 capable of tackling some mild off-roading, which is also helped by a ground clearance of 21cm.
The benchmark sprint to 62mph comes up in 8.5 seconds in the case of 77kWh models, putting the ID.4 in lofty company when it comes to quick-moving SUVs.
A 52kWh model will also be available, along with a choice of two trim levels available – the Pure and the Pro.
Equipment levels will be strong across the range, with an additional options list that includes electric boot opening, natural voice control, and over-the-air software updates.
The Volkswagen ID.4 goes on sale later this year, but you can sign up for news and updates using the form on this page. Alternatively, get in touch with your local JCT600 Volkswagen dealership now and a member of the team will be happy to help.
