To join the popular coupé version in the supercar line-up, Audi has revealed the R8 Spyder V10 Plus – the company’s fastest production convertible ever.
Fitted with a 601bhp V10 engine – which benefits from a 69bhp advantage over the standard V10 Spyder – this soft-top model goes from 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 203mph.
To help get up to speed and put the power down Audi fits a dual-clutch seven-speed S tronic transmission that works with the four-wheel drive quattro system and the German manufacturer’s drive select system.
The model is also 25kg lighter than the original V10 model and with the help of the Audi Space Frame made from aluminium and CRFP, the V10 Plus is also more rigid than before to aid handling.
In typical Audi fashion, the roof is of a composition of soft material and lightweight metals to keep weight down and it can be opened or closed in 20 seconds at speeds up to 31mph.
Inside the Spyder V10 Plus comes with sports leather bucket seats, Audi’s virtual cockpit 12.3-inch display – which frees up space in the cabin – and a Bang & Olufson sound system to name but a few of the features on offer.
Exclusive to the R8 Spyder V10 Plus, Audi offers the micrommata green body colour that pairs beautifully with the anthracite grey grille and black tailpipes.
The R8 Spyder V10 Plus will be available to order from the end of June, with prices starting from £147,470. Contact your nearest JCT600 Audi Centre
