50 years and 16 Volkswagen's with Volkswagen York

Loyal customer Mrs Wilson has been buying Volkswagen cars from our York based dealership for the past 50 years!

Starting at the very beginning, Mrs Wilson parents owned a Volkswagen Beetle which is where the love for Volkswagen’s stems from. She went on to pass her driving test in a VW Danbury Caravette Camper, which she described as an “experience for the driving instructor” and the very first Volkswagen that Mrs Wilson and her late husband bought from York (North Riding Garage, York) in the summer of 1967, was a Beetle 1200, which cost a whopping five hundred and eighty five pounds!

In the following years, they had a number of other Volkswagen cars including another Beetle, 3 Golfs (the first Golf pictured here), 10 Polos and 1 Audi (we’ll let her off). Mrs Wilson’s current Volkswagen is a Polo TSI R Line which she has had for 4 years now and absolutely “loves it”.

Head of Business, Andrew Exon and the team invited Mrs Wilson along to their dealership earlier this week for a mini celebration!

Andrew Exon commented: “When I first heard Mrs Wilson’s story I wanted to celebrate the milestone with her in some way. We invited her along to the showroom for a mini celebration of her 50 years with Volkswagen York! We hope she enjoyed her visit and hope to see her again very soon – although I’m almost certain we will!

Mrs Wilson commented after her visit to the showroom: “I am still buzzing after our wonderful time at VW York yesterday afternoon.  A huge thank you for taking the time, effort and thought in setting up such a memorable celebration of my 50 years of VW cars. I really enjoyed it, and so did Chris. Thank you and your team so much for the event and all the fabulous gifts. I will remember the afternoon for a long time to come (and so will the car!)”

A fantastic story for Volkswagen York!
