Volkswagen has thrown its hat into the compact SUV ring with its unveiling of the latest model – the T-Roc.
Built on the MQB chassis, the T-Roc will be the smallest SUV Volkswagen make and is the fourth they currently build – with the Tiguan and Touareg sold in the UK.
The funky city crossover comes with either front or 4Motion all-wheel drive and is the first VW SUV with the option of two-tone bodywork – with the A-pillar, roof and wing mirrors available in a contrasting colour to the rest of the body.
It has a rugged design with tough plastic protection on the wheel arches, side sills and both bumpers, while managing to be distinctive compared to other models in profile. The grille is also unique to the T-Roc, with its specific light positions instantly recognisable.
Inside, VW continue the customisable and rugged theme with some of the panels available in different colours but all are made with durability in mind.
From release the T-Roc will be available in two trims – Style and Sport – that have specific characteristics to suit, such as decorative panels in the Style model and sport comfort seats for the Sport edition.
It will also come with driver assistance systems, such as post-collision braking, Lane Assist and Front Assist, which combines pedestrian monitoring and city emergency braking. Optional features include adaptive cruise control, rear traffic alert and traffic jam assist.
