To add some efficient and low-emission driving, Kia has added a plug-in hybrid version to the Optima Sportswagon estate range.
This model is part of Kia’s strategy to reduce the overall emissions of its vehicles by 25 percent by 2020, and pairs a lithium-ion battery setup with a 2.0-litre petrol engine. With the use of both petrol and electric power, it can achieve 201.8mpg and emissions as low as 33g/km CO2.
The overall output of the setup produces up to 202bhp and 375Nm of torque, meaning a 0-60mph time of 9.4 seconds and a top speed of 119mph.
As there was already a plug-in saloon version of the Optima, this plug-in version of the estate adds cleaner driving with the added bonus of practicality. The boot space is 440 litres but when the 40/20/40 split rear seats are folded down you get an impressive 1,574 litres of storage in the rear.
All UK Optima Sportswagon PHEV get a good level of equipment as standard, including LED daytime running lights and headlights, black cloth and faux leather seats with eight-way adjustment, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera and dual-zone automatic climate control.
You also get an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Bluetooth, satellite navigation and mobile connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control with speed limiter, 17-inch alloys and six airbags.
