The new BMW X2 combines coupe and SUV styling into one package. Complete with the option of the 20i petrol unit or the 20d and 25d diesel models – with both oil-burners accompanied by BMW’s xDrive four-wheel drive system.
The 20d model with the 187bhp, 2.0-litre TwinTurbo engine takes the X2 from 0-60mph in 7.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 137mph. Fuel efficiency is exceptional at 61.4.mpg and it emits 121g/km CO2.
Although it is shorter and lower than the X1, it shares the same wheelbase and some styling cues, but differs on the roofline, shorter overhangs and slim window graphics.
Available in four trim levels, the base level SE specification comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, two-zone automatic climate control, park distance control, cruise control with brake function, a sport multi-function leather steering wheel and an eight-speed automatic transmission, which is paired to the previously mentioned xDrive all-wheel drive system when the model is fitted with a diesel engine.
Higher trim levels lead to a nicer interior finish, better technology and sports seats, with both M Sport and M Sport X models getting the M Sport body kit and styling cues.
The optional Driving Assistance pack includes lane departure warning, speed limit info, high beam assistant, collision warning and pedestrian warning with city braking. With the Plus version, BMW adds active cruise control and traffic jam assistant for added assurance.
