The Tordoff Collection – Aston Martin DB6

The Tordoff Collection has the rare privilege of hosting this Aston Martin DB6 Saloon, as it celebrates its 50th birthday. Registered on 6th January 1968 and sold by A&B Cars Ltd of Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, this Grand Tourer is a superb example of David Brown’s classic design.

First introduced at the London Motor Show in 1965, it was developed to have better aerodynamics and specification than its predecessors, with features like the Kammback tail rear end.

Presented in exceptional condition, this DB6 is one of the most stunningly restored classic cars we have ever seen. The full renovation story has been carefully documented, with comprehensive records dating back to 1988, including 20 years of tax disc history, details of repair and service work and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate. Over 140 photographs tell the tale of how fastidiously and sympathetically it has been restored.

In 1989, this classic was treated to a full engine rebuild and bodywork repairs, including a bare metal respray from its original olive metallic to fiesta red. This extensive work was carried out by Aston Martin specialist, Ian H Moss. The owner continued to maintain the car at specialist workshops owned by Desmond J Smail in Buckinghamshire. From 2005 to 2006, a £10,000 rebuild was undertaken by Smail, including a new aluminium and steel chassis. This 1,550 hour transformation culminated in a repaint from fiesta red to its current sierra blue as well and the addition of authentic tan upholstery.

As well as a powered aerial and heated rear windscreen – the forefront of technology in the 1960s – the DB6 comes with many other factory extras including: chrome wheels, 3 ear hub caps, 2 safety belts, radio housing and Avon turbo speed tyres. Of special note, this DB6 has matching engine and chassis numbers.

We hand-picked this Aston Martin DB6 because it combines the very best of its heritage and its future. It has lived through half a century and is in perfect condition for a new custodian, making it one of the most desirable classic cars for sale in the UK.
