The Passat is here and set to impress. This executive saloon offers more premium features than ever before, as well as reduced weight and a new, more powerful range of petrol and diesel engines.
Volkswagen’s sleek and aerodynamic Passat is formed with a laser-welded body shell, protecting driver and passengers to an optimum level in the event of an impact. The body is then galvanised, coating it in a multi-layered rust protection product that Volkswagen guarantees for 12 years. 16", 17", 18" or 19" alloy wheels (depending on the specification you choose) set off the stylish new Passat in a range of finishes to suit your preferences.
At 2791mm, the wheelbase of the eighth-generation model is 79mm longer than its predecessor, resulting in increased legroom, headroom and shoulder room. The saloon provides 586 litres of loadspace, and with the seats folded forward, this figure increases to 1152 litres. The new Passat provides a number of infotainment systems centred around the driver. The Composition Media 6.5" colour touchscreen fitted as standard allows you to access the Multi Device Interface, including the latest-generation Lightning to 30-pin Adaptor. Opt for the Discover Pro navigation and entertainment for access to everything from proximity sensors to DAB radio, jukebox and MP3 music playback through the system.
There is a wealth of high-quality, high-powered engine options to choose from with the new Passat. From the supremely powerful 2.0 litre BITDI diesel delivering 240bhp to the highly fuel-efficient 1.6 litre TDI petrol engine producing 120bhp, all Passat models deliver premium performance. The 2.0 litre TDI 150bhp returns an impressive 67.3mpg fuel consumption on the combined cycle, while the 2.0 litre BITDI and SCR 4Motion editions can take the Passat from 0-60mph in under 6.1 seconds.
Including Park Assist as well as Lane Assist systems, the Passat helps you avoid collisions with obstacles at low speeds and keeps you safely in your lane on faster roads. Adaptive Cruise Control allows you to simply set a distance from the car ahead, so that your vehicle will accelerate and decelerate within a specified speed range. Airbags and ABS help protect you in the event of a collision, while Electronic Stability Control has sensors that monitor the progress of your wheels. This means that if the wheels start to slip, the brakes are applied intelligently to the relevant wheels and the engine power is reduced.
