The Peugeot 5008 MPV has been designed with sharing in mind; this is a vehicle that is perfectly equipped for dealing with the demands of family life, and remains sleek and stylish while doing so. Available with five or seven seats, this is a highly versatile model that fully deserves its award of "Best MPV" at the What Car? Car of the Year Awards 2013.
The front face of the 5008 shows off the advances that Peugeot has made in its styling techniques. The wraparound LED lights and rising curve of the rear window line give the car a welcome dynamic edge, and Peugeot's specific light signature making the look of the vehicle unmistakable. 16", 17" and 18" alloy wheels are available, and round off the vehicle’s finely-judged balance of style and pragmatism. The elevated driving position, along with the large windscreen, gives the driver a superior position from which to observe changing situations on the road. The steering wheel and multimedia controls have been ergonomically positioned to reduce physical strain to a minimum, and the luxurious seats can be fitted with either leather or cloth upholstery.
The Peugeot Connect RD4 stereo radio/mono CD player with MP3 playback provides entertainment, and hands-free Bluetooth® and satellite navigation systems are also available. Two 1.6 litre petrol engines offering 120hp or 156hp are available for the 5008, or motorists can choose between the three 1.6 or 2.0 litre diesel engines. Five and six-speed manual or automatic gearboxes are available with the 115hp and 163hp diesel engines, and all the available motors make use of the latest technology in order to save fuel. The most frugal engine of all is the 115hp e-HDi EGC unit, which returns combined fuel consumption of 65.7mpg, and CO2 emissions are just 113g/km, meaning exemption from Vehicle Excise Duty during the first year and £30 thereafter.
Six airbags are provided as standard, protecting the length and breadth of the 5008's interior. Intelligent Traction Control detects situations in which grip might be hindered and automatically adjusts, and the Peugeot ESP control system provides a range of stability functions to help keep the 5008 steady at all times. The front seatbelts are equipped with pre-tensioners and force limiters, and ISOFIX fittings are available for easy installation of child safety seats.
