The MINI Paceman range of vehicles are a smooth and sleek set of vehicles with a harder edge. MINI states that the Paceman has 'design with bite', combining the best in MINI drive experiences with a stylistic look that brings an artistic flair to the vehicle range. Available in Cooper, Cooper S and John Cooper Works models, the Paceman range will be able to excite even the most experienced "hot hatch" driver.
Visual highlights of the Paceman range include the lengthened doors, the long shoulder line, and slanting roofline, all of which work together to make the car a distinctively aggressive take on the usual MINI formula. The standard Piano Black Exterior package is as stylish as it is classic, adding further touches to the side scuttles and the surrounds of the headlights and rear lights.
The Paceman's sports silhouette belies the true functionality of the interior. The wide-opening doors give easy access to the rear of the vehicle, which provides 330 litres of loadspace (and which can extend to an impressive 1,080 litres with the rear seats folded forward).
The Paceman is also ripe for extensive personalisation, with MINI's impressive range of interior trims, fabrics, materials and colours available throughout the range. Infotainment is provided through MINI Connected, which provides drive information, and various forms of in-car entertainment can be accessed the Dynamic Music system.
The assertive looks of the Paceman would be superfluous without a range of powerful engines. Fortunately, each of the available motors (three petrol, two diesel) deliver fantastic performance whilst not neglecting fuel economy and environmental impact. As one would expect, the John Cooper Works engine generates the most pace, getting the Paceman to 62mph in 6.9 seconds. Motorists with an eye to fuel and tax costs, however, may prefer the Cooper D 111hp unit, which returns combined fuel consumption of 64.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 115g/km.
Safety features in the Paceman range include six airbags as standard, protecting the driver and passengers through a comprehensive suite around the head and upper body. Seatbelt pre-tensioners and belt force-limiters prevent excessive movement in dangerous situations, and there are two ISOFIX attachment points for the easy fitting of child safety seats. The Paceman uses Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), which activates if diminishing levels of grip are detected. There is also the option of Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), which also includes Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC).
