The MINI Clubman is a spacious and practical estate variant of the classic MINI structure. Clubman vehicle variations are available as MINI One, Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works models. A special edition is also available - the Hampton Clubman, which features luxurious leather seats, a lavish level of equipment and a powerful 2.0 litre diesel engine. Conventional models also feature all of the advantages of a MINI vehicle while offering practical storage solutions and an impressive level of power. The Clubman follows suit for the MINI range when it comes to customisation, allowing motorists access to a wide range of personalisation options.
The Clubman features an innovative and unique design, focused on the Clubdoor style of entry. This allows for easy access to the vehicle, opening up the MINI for everyday family use. Inside, the driving position is low, and gives the driver an improved level of forward visibility. The intelligent layout of the interior also allows levels of headroom and legroom remarkable for a vehicle whose dimensions are still very compact compared to others in its class. The boot also offers generous levels of space, aided by the iconic Clubdoor which enables easy entry as well as the loading and unloading of luggage.
The Clubman's two petrol and three diesel engines cater for a variety of preferences. The two 1.6 litre, naturally-aspirated petrol units offer adequate power for all road types at 99bhp and 122bhp. Another engine, available with the John Cooper Works model, supplies 208bhp and can thrust the Clubman from 0-62mph in just 6.8 seconds. The 90bhp, 110bhp 1.6 litre diesel powertrains and the 2.0 litre 143bhp unit, meanwhile, offer substantial punch at low speeds. With the 1.6 diesel motor, the Clubman can achieve a combined fuel consumption figure of 72.4mpg, and CO2 emissions of 103g/km.
MINI's active and passive safety systems include driver assist systems such as the City Collision Mitigation system, and the Parking Assistant Pack. This enables the Clubman to assess parallel parking situations, and aids the driver in performing the perfect manoeuvre. Active cruise control adapts the vehicle speed to the surrounding vehicles, and a suite of protective airbags is included.
