Endless thrills await you at the wheel of the BMW Z4 Roadster; a two-seater sports car that is equally at home sweeping around bends on the track or out on the open road. A convertible roof adds the unique thrill of top-down driving, allowing you to hear the roar of the engine and see more admiring glances.
The Z4's streamlined shape has as much to do with performance as it does with visual appeal. The long, curving bonnet houses a very special engine beneath it, while enabling the car cut through the air for a truly responsive ride. Alloy wheels, a twin exhaust set-up and LED lights all combine for a striking finish.
Inside, BMW Z4 has been careful to preserve all that is great about classic roadsters while delivering a contemporary feel when you settle into the seat. The manufacturer achieves this by retaining an elegant character, blending stitched leather with a choice of wood inlays. The ergonomic arrangement places you closer to the road, and the intuitive dashboard simplifies control of the car’son-board technology.
Air conditioning is a welcome practical addition for everyday drives, as is the audio system with a DAB digital radio tuner. You can link your smartphone to the car using the Bluetooth® hands-free facility, which includes a USB audio connector to play your own choice of music. Many of these functions can be accessed without lifting a finger, using the steering wheel-mounted controls.
Pulsating performance is a hallmark of the Z4 Roadster, and leading the rewarding driving dynamic is a choice of six-cylinder or four-cylinder petrol powertrains. Choose the 3.0-litre sDrive35is for the highest output of 335bhp and the capability to hit 60mph in around 4.8 seconds. The lesser-powered sDrive18i couples excitement with economy, boasting CO2 emissions of a remarkable 159g/km and combined economy up to 41.5mpg.
Safety has been another key focus for BMW, and the sports car demonstrates this with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), rollover protection, and door reinforcements as standard. You can also add adaptive headlights as an optional extra for improved visibility during darkness.
