Yorkshire car retailer supports ‘Team Emmerdale’ cycle challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support

JCT600 has helped five Emmerdale celebrities by providing a support vehicle to accompany them on a gruelling 224 mile charity cycle ride from the famous Woolpack in Emmerdale village to the Queen Vic of Eastenders fame in a bid to raise £100,000 for leading cancer care charity Macmillan Cancer Support.

Team Emmerdale comprising Rik Makarem (who plays Nikhil Sharma); Tom Lister (Carl King); James Thornton (John Barton); Kelvin Fletcher(Andy Sugden); and series producer Steve November cycled continuously from Yorkshire to London in under 24 hours, without leaving the saddle!

Setting off on Friday 19 August, the Emmerdale stars were accompanied on their two day journey by a VW Caravelle and two drivers, courtesy of JCT600.

“Last year we raised £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support through our own fundraising events and it’s great to be able to continue to support the charity by giving some practical help to the Emmerdale cyclists as they push themselves to their physical limits. Congratulations to the team on completing this endurance challenge and raising funds for Macmillan,” comments John Tordoff, chief executive of JCT600.

The Emmerdale actors undertook the demanding ride for Macmillan in memory of series producer Gavin Blyth who died aged 41 from cancer last year.
