Leeds Youngster Lands Dream Job as Ferrari Apprentice

  • Eighteen year old Georgina Slack of JCT600 Ferrari in Leeds has become one of just 11 apprentices across the UK to be chosen by iconic sports car brand Ferrari to enrol on its prestigious three year apprenticeship programme.

Georgina, who lives in Bramley, has been interested in mechanics since she was a child and recently completed a two year automotive course. She will train with JCT600 Ferrari at its Brooklands dealership and, along with the other ten successful candidates, she will also attend 24 weeks of dedicated training at Ferrari North Europe’s new apprentice facilities in London where she will be taught skills in science, engineering and technology.

Earlier this week (15 November) Georgina was invited down to Ferrari to meet the Business Secretary, Vince Cable, as part of a visit to highlight the Government’s support for companies that are investing in the future through apprenticeships.

“To have been chosen from over 1,000 school-leavers is an exceptional achievement and one that Georgina richly deserves,” comments Craig Walton, service manager at JCT600 Ferrari. “It was a rigorous selection process with aptitude tests, interviews and a two day work placement, but Georgina’s potential and enthusiasm stood out.

“It’s fantastic to be able to work with Ferrari to invest in young talent and also vital for our customers that we continue to develop the Ferrari technicians of the future, ensuring that we have a supply of high quality, knowledgeable and expertly trained staff.”

Georgina said: “For me, like many other young people, the opportunity to join one of the world’s most prestigious sports car brands is a dream come true. I am very proud to be one of only 11 apprentices chosen in the UK and grateful to JCT600 for training me.”

The Ferrari training will include hands-on diagnostic and mechanical training on the current range of Ferrari models, such as the Ferrari 458 Italia. The apprentices will also have access to other models from Ferrari’s recent past including the F430 Coupe, to ensure they have the necessary skills to confidently service the cars they are most likely to see in the workshop at their dealerships.
