Yorkshire car retailer JCT600 sponsored a celebrity cricket match in Apperley Bridge last Sunday (15th August) to raise funds for England fast-bowler Ryan Sidebottom’s benefit year.
The Yorkshireman returned to his home county for the charity match held at Woodhouse Grove School against the world famous team, the Bunbury Cricket Club, chosen by Sidebottom’s father, Arnie, also an ex-England cricketer and currently the cricket professional at Woodhouse Grove School.
The Bunburys were captained by David English MBE and celebrities included Emmerdale actor Duncan Preston; Wimbledon and Luton footballer Mick Harford; Surrey and England cricketer David Smith; Brian Noble, former Bradford Bulls coach and now The Crusaders coach; Nottinghamshire cricketers Andre Adams (New Zealand international), Mark Wagh, Bilal Shafayat and Mark Ealham (England); former England and Arsenal footballer Perry Groves; Under 21s England and Peterborough United goalkeeper Joe Lewis; and Kent and England cricketer Alan Igglesden.
“We’re delighted to support such a great event and welcome home one of Yorkshire’s sporting heroes,” commented Chris Cole, JCT600 BMW General Sales Manager. “It was great to see so many local people come along to enjoy an afternoon in the sun watching some of our cricketing legends whilst also raising funds for such a good cause.”
JCT600 displayed models of Porsche, Bentley, BMW and MINI at the event and offered a Porsche for the weekend or a visit to Bentley’s factory as prizes for corporate guests attending the pre-match lunch.
All funds raised will go towards Ryan’s charity, the ‘Little Siddy Club’ which supports children’s hospices in Yorkshire and in Nottinghamshire where he plays.
