JCT600 are reporting that more people are travelling further to get the best deals with over 30 per cent of customers now travelling more than 50 miles to buy a new car from one of their 48 dealerships.
The increase in distance travelled is largely due to the huge growth of online research with JCT600 estimating that almost half of their sales now originate from their website.
JCT600 Sales Director Andrew Coulthurst commented, “Motorists are now starting their search for a new car online in order to find the best bargains, and then travelling to wherever they are in the country, in many cases saving thousands of pounds by doing so.
“Recently, a customer travelled 282 miles from Canterbury to buy a Peugeot 307 SW from one of our Leeds dealerships; and another customer came 337 miles from Aberdeen to Bradford to get the best possible deal on a Mercedes Vito van. Customers have travelled from all over the UK and bought cars right across our range of brands – the furthest travelled that we know of, was almost 400 miles from Inverness!”
He continues: “We price check all of our used cars with comparable vehicles advertised online within 100 miles to ensure we offer the most competitive prices. As one of the largest car retailers in the country, we offer a massive range of new and used cars meaning we are able to offer customers the widest choice and best value.
“We have seen an overall growth in used car sales as more customers travel into Yorkshire to buy and, of course, local people can benefit from being able to purchase from us at some of the best prices in the UK, right on their doorstep.”
